The organization of the ACM FAccT Conference is guided by two key documents: the Strategic Plan and the Conference Bylaws. Additionally, the Sponsorship Policy governs our relationship with sponsors.

Strategic Plan

The ACM FAccT Strategic Plan (ratified on January 2019) lays out the high-level vision and goals of the conference. Rather than being a governance document, it is meant to help guide and sharpen the thinking of the ACM FAccT Executive and Steering Committees as they make decisions surrounding the conference. The Strategic Plan is aspirational, and is designed to be more fluid than the bylaws.

Conference Bylaws

The ACM FAccT Conference Bylaws (last updated October 2023) describe the organization and policies of the conference. This includes key committees and their responsibilities; the processes for making major decisions; and major policies around sponsorship, fair reviewing of scholarly work, and the giving of awards. The Conference Bylaws are approved by the ACM FAccT Steering Committee and may be amended from time to time.

Sponsorship Policy

The Sponsorship Policy (2023 version) governs our relationship with sponsors.

In 2023 the Executive Committee created a working group of Steering Committee members to review the sponsorship policy. Their review and recommendations (July 2023) are available. As of August 2023, the recommendations are pending approval by the Steering Committee.
